IN HOUSE ACTIVITIESThere are two or three side rooms and a large main area at the club where our 100 or so members meet. In the side rooms we offer Dominoes, Snooker-pool, Jigsaws and I.T. Facilities. There is also an area for people to chat quietly. Occasionally other activities are offered i.e. A Pampering night, First Aid practice and The Gateway Award.
The main area of the club is where most of the action takes place, and now with the introduction of a chair lift in Mar 2006 this area is fully accessible to all users. Club members sit together round tables watching the different activities, listening to the music, chatting with friends or playing Bingo (if it’s on offer). People dance to the disco music, play indoor bowls, badminton or volleyball (depending on what is set out).
On the ground level (overlooking the main area) the members play Air Hockey or watch Television. There are comfortable easy chairs and coffee tables for members to socialise around. This is also where we have the bar (open once a month on Disco nights or for special events) . Sweets, canned drinks, crisps and chocolate are available in this area.
We serve a drink of tea or fruit juice with a couple of biscuits at about 8:10 p.m. Smoking is not allowed in the building or surrounding area /grounds, i.e. a full no smoking policy is in operation for all. You can try to win £9 by buying a Bingo ball for 20p.
The evening is usually arranged into two sessions - 7:00 p.m. to 8:10 and then 8:20 to 9:30 so you can often see a change of activities unless there is a special event going on like a Disco. There is always a variety of events taking place and if anybody wants us to arrange something special we always do our best to provide it.
