64th Birthday Party
On 16th September 2025 the Club celebrated its 64th Birthday!
Why a 64th Birthday you might ask. Special birthdays are usually celebrated for 50, 60, 70 years. In fact the Club has celebrated 25 years, 30 years, 50 years and 60 years. Why 64?
“Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I’m 64?”
The answer to that on many fronts is “Yes!” The members are still welcome and are still needed 64 years after the first meeting of the Club. The Club is still needed to serve the members 64 years after the first meeting. There is no upper age limit to the membership of the Club. So yes, everybody is needed as is the Club.
Steve the singer entertained and the members were served curry and rice by the volunteer helpers. Two large birthday cakes were cut up and served (or taken home) and the theme was black and white to reflect the 60s era. This was a fun evening and the room was decorated with black and white decorations.
Although there is not anybody around who was there when the Club held its first meeting in September 1961, there were many volunteer helpers and members who have regularly attended the Club since the late 1970s and early to mid 1980s.
